Had lady agitators of a later day been wiser, they would never have dreamed of subverting this masculine citadel, for the all-male American jury furnished the true stronghold of women’s liberties, making it possible for the fair sex to enjoy the freedom to remove some inconvenient mortal from this world without having to take the consequences. It helped if the feminine defendants were young and beautiful, but neither youth nor beauty was essential.
